About This Component

8-bit parallel I/O expander for I2C-bus and SMBus applications with configurable input/output pins, polarity inversion, and interrupt output. Operates from 2.3V to 5.5V with 5V I/O tolerance and supports clock frequencies up to 400kHz. Three address pins allow up to eight devices on a single bus, ideal for GPIO expansion in sensor interfaces, LED control, and button switching applications.

Why does this need a breakout?

The 0.65mm pitch makes hand soldering difficult and error-prone; a breakout board lets you solder standard headers instead. This package hosts precision analog and mixed-signal ICs like DACs and ADCs that benefit from clean PCB layouts and decoupling placement. Prototyping becomes faster with breadboard-compatible pin headers, eliminating the need for a custom carrier PCB.
