The device includes built-in protection for LED shorts/opens, thermal shutdown, and undervoltage lockout.

Why does this need a breakout?
This 0.95 mm pitch SMD package is incompatible with breadboards and difficult to hand-solder. A breakout board brings the five pins to standard 0.1″ spacing, enabling rapid prototyping without reflow equipment. Essential for evaluating precision analog ICs like current-sense amplifiers in development circuits.
