Half-duplex RS-485/RS-422 transceiver operating from a single 3.3V supply with data rates up to 10Mbps. Features a driver and receiver with short-circuit current limiting, thermal shutdown protection, and fail-safe receiver inputs. Supports up to 32 transceivers on the bus with -7V to +12V common-mode input range.

Why does this need a breakout?
An 8-pin SOIC with 1.27mm pitch is too fine for breadboards and hand-soldering without a microscope. A breakout board routes these pins to standard 0.1" headers, enabling rapid prototyping and reliable connections for op-amps, transceivers, and small power MOSFETs without requiring reflow equipment.
