8-bit transparent D-type latch with three-state outputs. Captures data on the D inputs when the latch enable pin is high, holding data when low. Output enable pin controls the tri-state drivers for bus applications. Operates at 2-6V with 74HC speed and current specifications. Commonly used in microcontroller interfaces, data bus buffering, and digital logic circuits.

Why does this need a breakout?
Hand-soldering 0.65mm pitch leads is tedious and error-prone; a breakout board with standard 0.1" headers lets you prototype I/O expanders and logic gates on breadboards without a reflow oven. The compact SSOP package also becomes DIP-friendly, eliminating jumper spaghetti and reducing assembly mistakes during development cycles.
