The SN74AHCT245 is an octal bus transceiver IC designed for asynchronous two-way communication between data buses. Operating from 4.5V to 5.5V, it features TTL-compatible inputs, 3-state outputs, and latch-up performance exceeding 250mA per JESD-17. Commonly used for signal enabling/disabling, controller reset signal holding, and switch debouncing applications.

Why does this need a breakout?
Hand-soldering 0.65mm pitch leads is tedious and error-prone; a breakout board with standard 0.1" headers lets you prototype I/O expanders and logic gates on breadboards without a reflow oven. The compact SSOP package also becomes DIP-friendly, eliminating jumper spaghetti and reducing assembly mistakes during development cycles.
