Features quasi-bidirectional ports (P0-P7) with latched outputs capable of directly driving LEDs, open-drain interrupt output, and low 10µA standby current. Ideal for GPIO-limited microcontrollers requiring parallel port expansion via serial I2C interface.

Why does this need a breakout?
Hand-soldering 0.65mm pitch leads is tedious and error-prone; a breakout board with standard 0.1" headers lets you prototype I/O expanders and logic gates on breadboards without a reflow oven. The compact SSOP package also becomes DIP-friendly, eliminating jumper spaghetti and reducing assembly mistakes during development cycles.
