Hot-swappable bidirectional I2C isolator with 3 kVRMS isolation rating in 8-SOIC package. Supports data rates up to 1.7 MHz with enhanced EMC characteristics including ±100 kV/μs CMTI and ±8 kV ESD protection. Operates from 3-5.5V on primary side and 2.25-5.5V on secondary side, suitable for isolated I2C buses, SMBus, PMBus, and power-over-ethernet applications.

Why does this need a breakout?
An 8-pin SOIC with 1.27mm pitch is too fine for breadboards and hand-soldering without a microscope. A breakout board routes these pins to standard 0.1" headers, enabling rapid prototyping and reliable connections for op-amps, transceivers, and small power MOSFETs without requiring reflow equipment.
