The AS5600 is a 12-bit programmable contactless magnetic rotary position sensor that measures absolute angle of a diametrically magnetized on-axis magnet. It offers selectable 12-bit analog or PWM output, I²C interface for user programming, and supports configurable angular ranges from 18° to 360°. Ideal for contactless potentiometer, motor feedback, and rotary encoder applications with excellent robustness against external stray magnetic fields.

Why does this need a breakout?
An 8-pin SOIC with 1.27mm pitch is too fine for breadboards and hand-soldering without a microscope. A breakout board routes these pins to standard 0.1" headers, enabling rapid prototyping and reliable connections for op-amps, transceivers, and small power MOSFETs without requiring reflow equipment.
