The AMS1117-2.5 is a positive fixed-output LDO regulator delivering 2.5V at up to 1A with typical 1.2V dropout voltage. It features 1.5% output accuracy, integrated current limiting and thermal shutdown protection. Suitable for battery-powered systems, portable devices, and post-regulation in SMPS applications.

Why does this need a breakout?
SOT-223 three-pin regulators and transistors are difficult to hand-solder due to tight 1.5mm pitch and heat-sinking requirements. A breakout board brings standard 0.1" header spacing, eliminating soldering challenges and enabling immediate breadboard prototyping without rework or micro-soldering tools.
