Features latch enable (LE) control for transparent/latching modes and output enable (OE) for high-impedance control. 5V tolerant inputs support mixed 3.3V/5V logic environments. Operates from 1.2V to 3.6V supply with Schmitt-trigger inputs and IOFF power-down protection.

Why does this need a breakout?
Hand-soldering 0.65mm pitch leads is tedious and error-prone; a breakout board with standard 0.1" headers lets you prototype I/O expanders and logic gates on breadboards without a reflow oven. The compact SSOP package also becomes DIP-friendly, eliminating jumper spaghetti and reducing assembly mistakes during development cycles.
