The 74LV165A is an 8-bit parallel-in/serial-out shift register with complementary outputs. It loads parallel data asynchronously when PL is LOW, or shifts data serially when PL is HIGH, advancing one bit per clock pulse. Operating from 2.0V to 5.5V with Schmitt-trigger inputs, it supports expansion by cascading multiple stages and includes power-down mode capability.

Why does this need a breakout?
The 0.65mm pitch makes hand soldering difficult and error-prone; a breakout board lets you solder standard headers instead.
