The SN74HCT165 is an 8-bit parallel-load shift register that converts parallel data inputs to serial output. It features eight individual data inputs (A-H) with load control via the SH/LD pin, gated clock inputs with inhibit function, and complementary serial outputs. Operating from 4.5V to 5.5V with LSTTL/CMOS input compatibility, it's ideal for expanding microcontroller input capacity in temperature range –40°C to +125°C.

Why does this need a breakout?
The 0.65mm pitch makes hand soldering difficult and error-prone; a breakout board lets you solder standard headers instead.
