8-bit AVR microcontroller with 4KB in-system programmable flash memory, 256 bytes SRAM, and 64 bytes EEPROM. Features integrated boost converter (0.7-1.8V operation), 10-bit ADC, two 8-bit timers with PWM, QTouch capacitive touch sensing (8 channels), and debugWIRE on-chip debugging. Operates at 0-8MHz with low power consumption (400µA active, 150nA sleep) and supports 16 programmable I/O lines.

Why does this need a breakout?
The 1.27mm pin pitch makes hand-soldering this 20-pin SOIC challenging and error-prone. A breakout board brings all pins to standard 0.1" spacing, enabling reliable breadboard prototyping and simplifying development of USB-to-UART interfaces without requiring reflow soldering or specialized equipment.
