Each of eight flip-flops latches data on rising clock edge; master reset forces all outputs low independently. Operates from 2.0V to 6.0V with CMOS low power consumption and TTL-compatible inputs (HCT version). Suitable for registers, counters, and synchronous data storage applications.

Why does this need a breakout?
The 1.27mm pin pitch makes hand-soldering this 20-pin SOIC challenging and error-prone. A breakout board brings all pins to standard 0.1" spacing, enabling reliable breadboard prototyping and simplifying development of USB-to-UART interfaces without requiring reflow soldering or specialized equipment.
