Dual non-retriggerable monostable multivibrator with Schmitt-trigger inputs and active-low reset. Each channel features edge-triggered inputs and generates output pulses with width defined by external RC timing components (tW = 0.7 × CEXT × REXT). Operates from 4.5V to 5.5V with TTL-compatible input levels, excellent noise immunity, and pulse width stability typically within ±5%.

Why does this need a breakout?
The 1.27mm pin pitch on this 16-pin package makes hand-soldering impractical and breadboard mounting impossible. A breakout board brings the pins to standard 2.54mm spacing, enabling quick prototyping of RS-232/RS-485 transceivers, ADCs, and line drivers without requiring surface-mount soldering skills or PCB fabrication.
