The 74HCT165 is an 8-bit parallel-in/serial-out shift register with TTL-compatible inputs and asynchronous parallel load capability. It operates from 2.0V to 6.0V, features synchronous serial shifting controlled by clock and clock-enable inputs, and includes overvoltage-tolerant inputs rated to 15V for level-shifting applications. Commonly used for parallel-to-serial data conversion and input expansion in microcontroller systems.
