Design a Custom BoardBattery-backed real-time clock/calendar IC with I2C interface tracking hours, minutes, seconds, day of week, date, month, and year through 2399. Features dual programmable alarms, 64-byte SRAM, power-fail time-stamping, and low-power operation at 1.2 µA typical. Operates across 1.8V to 5.5V with on-chip trimming for 32.768 kHz crystal oscillators.
An 8-pin SOIC with 1.27mm pitch is too fine for breadboards and hand-soldering without a microscope. A breakout board routes these pins to standard 0.1" headers, enabling rapid prototyping and reliable connections for op-amps, transceivers, and small power MOSFETs without requiring reflow equipment.
