The LM2937 is a 500-mA low-dropout linear regulator with a 3.3V fixed output. It features typical 0.5V dropout at full load, wide output capacitor ESR tolerance (up to 3Ω), and integrated protection including reverse battery, short circuit, thermal shutdown, and 60V transient protection. Ideal for automotive, industrial control, and point-of-load applications.

Why does this need a breakout?
SOT-223 three-pin regulators and transistors are difficult to hand-solder due to tight 1.5mm pitch and heat-sinking requirements. A breakout board brings standard 0.1" header spacing, eliminating soldering challenges and enabling immediate breadboard prototyping without rework or micro-soldering tools.
